Help with Tire Size

I am thinking to use Pirelli P7000 235/40R18 and 265/35R18 for my new rims. Does anyone know if this is a good setup for CLK430. Will 265/35R18 fit on a 18X8.5 rim?? Will I need to do any fender mofification or other moditication ??? Will the tire cause any problem when making big turns??? Will it rob the fender if no modification performed??? Please advise, thank you.

I have 8.5 all the way round also. I have 235/40/18f and 255/35/18r. No rubbing at all. 265 is more tire than you need on a 8.5inch wheel and is usually reserved for a 9.5inch wheel. Although you could probably use 265 i'd stick with 255 to be safe.

............i have 235/40/18 in front and 265/35/18 with 15mm spacers in the rear. NO rubbing with Toyo tires and no problem with placing the 265's on my 18.8.5 rims. Although this is usually not advised. When I got S-03's which are wider than Toyo's I had some rubbing and solved the problem by going to 12mm rather than 15mm spacers for the rear. My guess is that, with no spacers, you can go 265/35/18 on 18x8.5 rims with any type of tire and get no rubbing.

I would pass on the Pirelli's and go with Michelin Pilot Sports, Dunlop SP9000 or Bridgestone S03 depending on your budget.
Go with Toyos if your budget is tight.
