Need to get it replaced, and wanted to see how to. Based on the part, looks like one plug and unscrew the sensor, and install in the reverse process. Just wanted to know how far back on the rear CAT.

99CLK320,
it's located right after the primary cat ends. very easy to find and easier to replace the the first sensor. climb around under the car and you will find it quite easily and as you said, unplug the wire and unscrew the senor, then reverse the process. not rocket science.

All done, took a while to find the sensor, I thought it was a little further down and on the driver side, ended up being pretty close up to the CAT as you said and on the passenger side. just behind the passsenger wheel well. Only hiccup I had was the harness, it would not come out and had to play around with it for a while and eventually unscew the bracket that held all 4 of the O2 harness so that I can get a better handle on it. I was going to get some anitseize, but I noticed the bosch replacement O2 sensor already had some on from the factory.

So next step was the start and test drive, got worried a bit when the car would not turn over, restarted and it started up fine, maybe cuz its been sitting for a while, only drove the car a handful of times in the last year, since I wanted to get the CPS sensor and the O2 sensor fixed first, just never got around till now.

On the test drive, the CEL remained on until I reach my first stop. When I came back and started the car to head home, CEL was cleared and now everything is back to normal.

Only question I had left was the Torque spec? I just hand tightened with an open ended wrench, but I didnt want to over do it. If anyone knows, please share, some researched I did, was about 50 lbs but that was for a VW and BMW X5.

99CLK320,
it is not a component that is torqued or stressed by movement or dependent on other moving or not moving parts. as long as it is snug and not over tightened I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks for the help, now I feel more confident driving the clk around, esp with the cps and the O2 sensor issues solved, no more CEL and the engine cutting out in the middle of traffic!
