Temp gauge sender/reader
Hey Guys.
I need help with my temp gauge. It shot up to 120c then came back to 85c then went back upto 120c and stayed there whilst I was driving yesterday. Tonight when the car was cold and I started it the needle went straight off the scale and stayed there.
Does anyone know what the problem is?
No fault codes. Oil and water levels are ok.
I did notice that my auxillary fans were running fast even though the radiator fan was on. I think I need a new Hydraulic fan also as it probably isn't doing its job if the auxillary fans come on.

Thanks, you know more than you think!
I took it to a garage and they confirmed it.
I booked it in originally and cancelled after someone told me it's an easy job.
The temerature sender is on the front of the engine block between the cylinders. It's a little black peg like thing about an inch big.
If anyone else has this problem it's simple to fix.
All you have to do is unclip the metal 'C' clip retainer (use a screwdriver for leveridge), unclip the spade clip connector, then pull the sensor out. Easy!
Ps, I had to rewrite this bit.
Mine wasn't so easy.
The sensor had aluminium oxide on it which meant it was very hard to pull out!
The sensor end snapped off when I pulled it and I had to use a screwdriver to pierce the rest to get it out.
Once out it took seconds to install the new one.
One more thing the car now runs 8c cooler at 82c rather than the 90c it used to be at.
