Rust!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!
Guys, HELP! I have a 2002 CLK 430 with 13K miles on it, and DAMN! I got rust on the Door Jam Plate. The Chrome plate that says MB V8 has three popcorn kernel sized rust spots. What the *****! I looked under the door, and I don't see anything. I cleaned it with some polish, and still there. What to do. HELP!

Your car is still under warranty, so take it to the dealer and have them replace your door sill plate. Perhaps you got a sefective stainless steel plate that wasn't really stainless after all. While it's there, though make sure you have them inspect the car to make sure the rust isn't coming from anywhere else though. It doesn't sound like it, but you can never be too careful.

When rust becomes a problem on stainless, I use a product call Nevr Dull. It is a treated wadding that comes in a can, and is available at most hardware and marine supply stores. It does a good job of removing rust, but the underlying area never looks as good as the rest of the panel. I would have it replaced under warranty.
