True, Tandrek. However, a Lexus evokes an even lesser emotion as we here in the 92660 realize they are a bunch of IMITATION Mercedes running around.

I would rather cruise down Jamboree to San Joaquin to Newport Center Drive on a sunny day in a waxed, black opal CLK 430 with tinted windows than anything from Toyota. No one gives a sht!t about a boring appliance here.

Toyotas are nice. But not when they are overpriced like their Lexus brand.

There are so many expensive cars here in the DC area, but I saw a white CLK and it caught my eye. It looked GREAT! Sometimes color matters. Silver MBs are everywhere (they still look good), but sometimes the right color/body combo stands out.

I just noticed they made the headlights on the new CLK one piece! WHY! I guess I'm startiing to appreciate the old body styles as they become more rare.

I have seen more nicely modded Lexus cars in the past six months than MBs....cars that WOULD kick butt on my AMG. Just the other night, I hooked up with a guy that I met through 1SICKLEX's forum who has an IS300 with nitrous....soon to be turboed as well. We had a great time sharing ideas and plans for future mods while we checked out over a dozen WRXs, STI's, EVOs, and some other nice rides....about 40 cars in all.

IMO, the car hobby is about *passion*.....for ALL kinds of cars.

Sigh, I was not being "literal". Just for you to say the GS has no ***** compared to a CLK is a little off as a CLK 320 is speedier than a GS 300 but a GS 400/430 is faster than a CLK 430. And of course the CLK 55 AMG kills them all.

All the while, the Lexus equivalent vehicles cost 25% less.

Nice appliance you have. I am sure it is "Sick" and "Dope" and "Bad" (meaning good) and will supply you with years of trouble-free fun.
Considering Lexus is the best selling luxury brand, I guess there are quite a few clueless morons around. :p

Your entitled to your opinion. To say All Toyota's and Lexus are appliances is like me saying all Benz's break down. Hogwash on both accounts.
I do agree Toyota and Lexus has more than it's share of "appliances". But not all of them.

Lexus improves on the innovation of other car makers... They are a bunch of copy cats.

But now that MB is set to assemble their cars in Japan, who is copying who? Is MB doing it for better production response?

I havn't read every post so this may be a repeat. Most people will agree that when comparing 0 - 60 and 1/4 mile times on paper a GS400 will be quicker than a CLK430. However, if you're comparing a CLK430 thats been broken in w/ 15000 + miles than I think the CLK will be faster in both 0 - 60 and 1/4 mile. My experience w/ Benz's is that they are quicker once they've accumulated a few thousand miles and magazines have confirmed this.

PS: Calling a Lexus GS400 a fancy Toyota Camry is about as useful as sayin that an E320 is a fancy Intrepid. The two cars have nothing in common except for the parent company. Infact that arguement works against Benz owners more than Lexus owners w/ the Chrysler 300's, Crossfires and even the Pacifica.

The crossfire, 300m and Pacifica are all VERY nice cars and are contenders against any lexus vehicle you can put them up against...

There's nothing like a white Mercedes-Benz...and oh, the GS400 only sees my tail lights.

What a Ridiculously stupid thread. It’s amazing how many stupid and immature people we have on this forum. Thank God I don’t have moderator privileges I would have banned 3/4 of the people posting in this thread for the quotes and arrogance.

The GS series Lexus is no Toyota Camry, I have driven both the GS and CLK and they are both very close in performance the Lexus having a slight edge. As far as comparison I love MB and am very loyal to MB but the W208 CLK was everything but impressive the interior wasn’t very luxurious and it was over priced for what you get even the earlier 55’s interior. The W209 is a significant upgrade over the W208. .

The W209 better than the W208 in what way? Perhaps in OEM handling. But not in looks (which again, is in the eye of the beholder), as the W209 looks more feminine and tapered and somewhat like a Volvo C70 or Honda Accord Coupe.

The W208, was more raw, more of a brute, with classically masculine lines and presence, and I find it has more character than the svelte W209.

They both however beat the unoriginal GS.

GS 400 is faster

Hello,

I am new to the MBworld forums and I am sure this subject has been well covered, but I have both the CLK 430 and GS400. Both are stock and my GS 400 smokes my CLK 430. I am sure with mods, the CLK can be faster but as an owner of both the GS is definitely faster.
