2003 CLK 320
I choose the 209 which I have. Almost bought the 2002 208 but went with the 2003 209. I think the 208 looked dated with the two side by side. Driving the two the 209 was my choice.

Exclamation Just to settle some confusion

I chose to compare the W208 CLK55 and the W209 CLK500 because after adding the options I would prefer in the 500 and looking at used CLK55's with like 5000 miles or less carried a price of about the same. Considering a brand new CLK55 would be out of the question right now I chose to compare 2003 CLK500 and 2001 or 2002 CLK55. I just wanted to see what you guys would think about them both seeing that the CLK55 AMG is a little outdated and also wanted to see if it would be more worth buying. Thanks!

Dominic,

Did you try posting the same survey on the 209 board to see the results?

The 2002 CLK55 AMG
or
the 2003 CLK500
i prefer The 2002 CLK55 AMG.....

who in real would not choose w209....

clk 500 is also not slow .....0-60 ion 5.7
only .7 sec difference
not so much difference in perforamance ...plus improved handling, more luxurious, NEWER, looks nicer...

no need for klemann.....

I agree with this 100%. It is all about the 208 in my opinion!

I haven't driven the 209, so it would be pretty hard to say for sure that I wouldn't like it better. But the looks of the 209 will certainly take some getting used to, to say the least. As of right now, I much prefer the look of the 208. I don't like the pinched rear end and the Camry-looking tail lights (or is it an Accord? ), nor do I like the C-class-looking one-piece headlights as much as I like the 208 headlights.

IMO, MB and BMW are doing the same WRONG thing -- making their cars look more and more like Camrys and other middle-of-the-road cars. WHY do that? They used to have a very distinctive look but if recent model changes are any indication, they are going to be looking like Buicks in 10 years.

Like I said, just my opinion....
