Removing headliner

Removing headliner
Do any of you have experience with removing the headliner; the roof panel on the inside of our cars?
I need to sound-deaden my roof this weekend and I'm going to attempt to remove this myself.
Has anyone taken theirs out before? Any tips, suggestions or order of removal of things you could give me?

No one, huh? Well, I'm going to tackle this tomorrow so wish me luck! I found a guy on here who took his out of his '99 E Class and it doesn't look too bad.
I'll try and post a DIY once I get mine finished for future reference for you all.

Yeah, I'm just worried about having to be too careful. My upholstery is the very light grey color, so I've got to give it the "white glove" treatment when handling it.

My Headliner is starting to show some age and a Suede Install costs 600 bucks so...I wanted to try and do my own suede install. I will be looking forward to your DIY!!!!!!!
Hopefully I don't jack up the suede install and end up taking it to a pro anyway. This wont be done for a while but it would be nice to know how to take it down ahead of time.

I took the headliner out yesterday and finished off my deadening on the car. It really is simple. Just popping panels and unscrewing pieces. Pretty straight forward one you examine everything.
I did take some pictures, but Yacht Master's thread that he posted a while back on removing his '99 E Class headliner is EXACTLY what I used to do mine. I couldn't have done a better job of explaining things.
If you need a GREAT DIY, look here: https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...attle-fix.html
The only suggestions I have are to keep in mind when pulling the rear view mirror off, it is VERY hard. You have to be careful when you put it back on as well, but all it does is snap into place on a metal bracket that holds the center of the headliner up and attaches to the roof.
The door trim is a kind of a pain in the *** to put back on, only because you'll need to put the end of in, door handle side first. Then work the rest of it in with a flat head screw driver.
Other than those things, the DIY above will take you through the entire process.
