side mirror dips in reverse gear?
I read in some forums (dont remember where) that the passenger side mirror angles down when you put the car's gear in reverse so that you can see the curb better. Is this true? If yes does it apply to a 97 CLK230 (German model) (matic) model and how do you activate this?

Yes, my '99 430 does this but the interior button that adjusts the passenger mirror must be depressed for it to work. If the drivers mirror button is depressed it won't work. Once you put it in Drive and start to roll forward the mirror readjusts itself to the original position.
It's a neat feature, but it occassionaly freaks me out because I'll catch it adjusting as I look out the passenger window while I'm moving in reverse and it can throw your sense of balance off.

I was going insane wondering why this always happened to me, makes sense now.
