Temp

Its an ongoing issue with many of our cars. Unfortunately it is not a bulb issue. Many of us have actually gone to the body that governs recalls and submitted concerns / complaints in hopes MB might make it a recall item. Hasn't happened. Many Many bummed CLK owners out there I assure you.

Fact is, the ribbon that carries the current to the LED display is pinched / worn. The good news it is it is fixable in many cases. The stealership will fix it for a thousand bucks or so I believe. But if you run a search for "Instrument Cluster" in this or the W210 Forum you can find both really good DIY with photos and services that you can pull your cluster and Fed Ex it to them for the fix for a few hundred bucks.

Best of luck. If you come across some easier / cheaper method, ITS GOLD! So please post your experience here for future inquests.

Cheers,
MM430

Welcome to pixel hell. The design from VDO was defective, as an MB tech told me, but Daimler hasn't taken responsiblity. Fortunately for me the pixels were starting to go when I bought the car from a dealer four years ago, so they were fixed for free. The replacements have done fine.

If it makes you feel any better, BMWs of the same era also frequently have pixel issues.
