clk320 325is bmw w/98 M3 motor conversion
tire sizes??
ive recently bought a 99 clk320 for my wife and as soon as i bought it i ran it over and had new tires put on it. the guys who did the tires put 225/45 17's on it and i thought nothing of it. thats what he told me it called for. this is the part you can start laughing at me. i didnt realize i had staggered rims. i bought this car on a whim without knowing anything about it. i paid 22,000 bucks for it and it was just too cheap to pass up. my question is, shouldnt i be running a wider tire in back with the amg wheels that came with this car? im thinking i should take this back and tell them the rear calls for a wider tire. all my manuals for the car are in transit from las vegas and i have no info on this car. can any of you advise me as what i should be running for rear tires?? i currently have 225/45/17's all the way around altho the wheels are staggered. thanks for your help steve

I think the CLK 320 has the same width of rims all around. Try to see if the rear rims sticking out very far. If thet are than you should be running wider tires on the rear.
On the 430 usually they run 225/45/17 (front) and 245/40/17.

If you have the stagger 17" AMG rims, then you should get them to change out the rears to 245/40/17's unless you want to make 4-wheel tire rotations. BTW Great price. How many miles?

the car had 43k on it when i got it. i bought it at an auction in vegas. i had gone there in an attempt to buy the wife a 530 or 540 and stumbled across this. i snagged it and drove it back to minnesota. i fell in love with it on the drive home. solid nimble and fairly quick. i took it up to 130 across the desert for a brief period and it felt stable and reasurring. thanks for your help guys.
