For city driving, my 55 gets around 14-15 L/100km, country driving can be as low as 7.5L/100km. I'd imagine the 430 would be slightly better but not much better. If you drive the car hard, the figures are going to be way above that. However, when you consider the enjoyment you get out of a V8, what's an extra $20/wk? The CLK55 are so affordable now, why not get one of these?

Yes Crvena Zvezda fan and Chelsea as well
I just thought 430 consumption would be really high as my 230 is probably 12-13L city driving
but year CLK55s 255kW @ 5500rpm and 510Nm @ 3000-3000rpm would be really handy

Like you, I thought the 55 was out of reach but after some serious calculations (not really), $15000 over 5 years is only $3000 a year. It's much easier to justify
There are a few available with just over 100,000kms and going for around $40-45k, great buy!

My CLK430 Convertible gets over 20 mpg on average in real-life driving. Real-life driving in my case means I have the top down a lot (unlike most California convertibles 
), and the car tends to be my spare-time driver. So I drive it a bit more spirited than my daily driver E320 wagon.
For some time, I averaged over 22 mpg with the CLK430, which I found quite impressive considering the amount of fun this car delivers. The gas mileage given per trip computer display -- I have not had a chance to verify those readings.
