Newbie here....need top 5 mods to improve ride
Hi There. Just purchased a light green with tan interior 2002 320 CLK with 80,000 miles. Overall really nice shape for it's age/mileage. Had a full service done and replaced the mass air flow sensor and valve covers. The car has plenty of performance however I feel like the car is floating and bouncing all over the road. I'm sure it has never had any upgrades to it. Also seems to have some brake fading; is that normal? Looking for the best bang for my buck; Paid $10,000 for the car so would like to limit my mods to $2,000-3,000 at the most. Also has the 17" AMG rims. Would welcome any suggestions. I'm in the northern most part of New Jersey, so if any knows the "go to shop" that would be cool as well. Thanks, Jay

my 5 pri upgrades would be:
1. Lowering kit
2. rims but if u like urs then keep em. or use em for winter rims
3. body kit
4. remove all squeeks from the car, mirror, seats, ashtray, 1st aid kit...
5. rust, since these clk's do rust in the wheel wells
most of these cost too mutch since u were planing on spending 2k :P
but the squeeks, get em!!

Thanks...looking for mods to improve the ride/performance. What lowering kit do you recommend (springs, shocks, camber)? Again good "bang for the buck."
Forgot to mention...the car has been a Florida car it's whole life and my son goes to school in Tampa; so rust shouldn't be a big issue at the moment.

As Ash(Vipclk320) has said get his and Ghosts parts they are WELL worth the $$. Sprint booster works well too. Depending on your driving style wheels and DEFINATELY quality tyres are a must.
Be warned though modding however small is a bug!!![drive](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/driving.gif)
Ash, show us the new pics of your car!

Thanks for the advice. So to sum it up...
Front/rear strut bar: $500
Cold ram air intake: $500
H&R Springs: $234 (tire rack)
Bilstein Sport Shocks: $390 (tire rack)
Ghost Riders Camber Kit: price?
2 questions: Recommended shop to do the install. I know of Rennsport in Hackensack has good reputation...I hear a bit pricey.
Also, before I spend this coin, wouldn't I want to know if other parts of my suspension/front end, such as ball joints are in good shape. What specifically am I looking for that could be worn out after 8 years and 85,000 miles.

So you kept SLK black series bumper?

The rear end is sloppy, a rear tower brace is the cure. It is night and day difference an easy mod.

99CLK320,
w/80k on it go with Bilstein sport shocks first and see if that helps. Don't get the heavy dutys because if you go with H&R cup kit later, which is the lowest kit out there you will wear out the HD shocks sooner than later. The Bil Sports are shorter. Try the shocks first and springs later. If you go with H&R you will have to go with camber kits front and back to get even tire wear. And, you may be right, you may have other suspension issues because of the mileage. Go with the obvious first and replace the shocks.
