'02 clk430 Master Cylinder Hose Break
Greetings. Earlier today I was detail cleaning my 2002 CLK430. I was wiping the various plastic components in the engine bay down. I got to the brake master cylinder and started gently cleaning when a hard plastic hose /line just snapped off right at the connector coming out of the master cylinder.
To describe this hose, it's hard black plastic which comes out, makes a u-turn, goes thru a rubber grommet on the heat sheild, and then seems to go to the rear top of engine, perhaps the manifold. I'm not really sure what this hose is or it's purpose ( perhaps a vacuum line ?) Car still cranked allright but did not drive it.
Could someone please tell me what this line is and it's importance?
I think I can rig a fix until I can get the car to my mechanic on Monday. Any help would be greatly appreciated..
Thanks

Kind of hard to do when it's made of hard plastic not flexible rubber and it broke right off at the base of the nipple on the connector but thanks anyway...

Thanks Rediahad. I appreciate the blow-up pic of the master cylinder/ brake boost mechanism. Kind of strange though, even in the blow up pic the vacuum line is not specifically numbered and described but the drawing shows it coming out of the booster. I messaged MarcusF and he was kind enough to give his opinion on my problem also and he said it would probably be the booster vacuum line. I called my local MB dealership and they said they have one for $43.00
Thanks again for the info....
