Not sure if you have Discount Tire Stores where you live, but I recently had a set of Michelin Pilot Sports installed on my CLK430 out the door for $800 plus a $70 rebate from Michelin for purchasing 4 tires which I received today in form of a check. Car rides and handles like a dream now. Amazing what a new set of good tires will do for a car. They might be worth checking with before you make a decision. Remember if you buy just the tires online you still have to pay at least $100 to have them installed and balanced

That is cheap. I paid more than that. But I also got a roadforce balance. In the end I still saved over buying locally. And the tireack has agreements with local installers.

When buying tires online, you have to add on shipping and local installation services.
By shopping locally, via newspaper ads and telephone, I was able to get a set of Michelin Primacy MXV4s for $500 (balanced, mounted, old tire disposal and front end alignment). Also includes lifetime balancing, rotation, flat repair etc..

It's a very competitive market.....everyone price matches and tries to beat the other place.
In my case, they they beat the Costco sale price shown on their web site.

Not to bash on a forum sponsor or anything but Tire Rack has limited brand choices and their prices aren't the greatest (not sure if they price match since I've never bought from them).
eBay, Discount Tires are a couple of the online sources that can beat Tire Rack by a fair bit. Search around...just don't buy from onlinetires.com.

I bought Toyo Proxes 4 all seasons a couple of years ago and am very happy with them. they are very quiet and grip well and are rated Ultra-high performance. I don't drive in the snow so can't give you a fix on that but they handle well on wet roads. compare the tread design to the Mich Pilot Sport all season. Very similiar. Then compare the price, not similiar. Just my two cents.

i bourght my complete set of wheels from ebay. i dont think i will ever do that again.
*short version-late arrival, damaged tyre, bolts and locking bolts wrong size, may-september no new tyre or refund! still working on getting my tyre back*
i bourght them in may.
got them 1 month later.
when i put them on the car 1 of the rear tyres went flat.
i still havent gotten a new one and now its september!
tyre was damaged from inside when they had put it on the rims.
after a while i was told to send it to them and if the tyre was covered by warrenty i would get it back. and also the payment for the shiping
i did this and heard nothing for about a month, the tyre had been laying in there shop for a few weeks. and was now sendt for warrenty.
heard nothing from them, when contacting them it had been trubble with there currier.
this is just a small part of all the mailing and time that has been going on since may! and im still trying to get my tyre back!!!!!

got all 4 installed and got the best of my old tires put on the spare rim. N2 fill all for less then $800!

What are other people using in terms of tires? I have had my Michelin Pilot Sport A/S for about 5 years and 30K miles and yes only 30K miles in 5 years on my car. I am inclined to get the same ones here in the next month or so.-

I went from Continentals to Michelin Pilot Sports and I can tell you that as far as ride goes the Pilots are much better for me.
