Exhaust/Muffler Inlet Size

Have seen through searches that people ate running anywhere from 2.25"-3.0" inlet on their supermarket muffler. I measured th O.D. my 430 and its 2.75". So what do you guys recommend....2.25 or 2.5? I have the magnaflow 14830 in mind but don't know if the 2.25 inlet is going to be too quiet. Any help/info/suggestions would be great. Thanks

And what size muffler are you running, 3'? Found a magnaflow 14830 used demi locally and appears to be in good shape, but its only 2.25" inlet and don't know if its going to make it sound like crap or not.
