Manual conversion possible on w208??
I am looking to purchase a new car in the near future and am having trouble deciding. I love manual transmissions (ie BMW, Audi) yet I have been an MB enthusiast for the longest.
It is most likely going to be an e46 coupe or a w208 CLK.
So does anyone know of any tuners that could get a 5/6 speed manual transmission into a w208 CLK?? And how reliable would it be as a daily driver? Also does anyone know where I could get prices on something like this??

hope you have money
I hope you got a lotta money to back up your ideas. Renntech I believe charges over 10k and some have said over 20k for this job.
Maybe a really good custom shop could do it using an slk tranny and slk computers for a few thousand less, but either way it is a very involved, and complicated process. No reason the car shouldnt be reliable as long as the job is done right.
My opinion is go with a BMW if all you care about is having the manual transmission.
OOO, there is one other option, you can import a European clk 200 kompressor with a manual option and have it converted to US spec.

What i mean is....
I have a complete AMG bodykit, I am putting in the blackout window trim, and 2002 clk430 amg wheels. There is more to come. I will post pics after the end of this week when the car is close to being finished.
Basically, I see no reason to upgrade to a 2002 430, plus id rather save the money for other stuff and just use this as a car to hook up.

I was aware of renntech and the price is a bit of a turnoff... I still haven't decided on which car though, so time will tell.
Also there is more to a 2002 430 than the amg kit and wheels.

thanks.. i know
thank you, im aware there is more besides body kit and wheels. But I am going for a full exterior only conversion.
So besides the bodykit and the wheels, I am putting on the blackout window trim, changing the door handles to 2000+ style, mounting the roof antenna, and adding blinking mirrors and removing side blinkers.
Also adding e55 smoke tailights.

That will be a pretty complete exterior conversion. Sounds good. Also, do the e55 tail lights fit the w208 light fixture without any special modifications?

i think they do
I think they do...ill check my parts catalog..dont know if I have one for the e class. The tail light part # starts with 208, so if they E class tailight starts with 208 as well it will fit. The dealer can check fitment right on their parts computer.

Holy old thread, Batman!
They will not fit. They're completely different lights. If you want the AMG smoked look, you'll have to spray them like I did. There's a link to pics in my sig.
