Comand
Last year my dealer replaced the comand unit because the CD got stuck in it. Now 2 out of 5 times it doesn't recognize the Nav Sys CD, so I took it back to them, and a new unit is in again. Looks to me that these comand units are crap. I've never had issues with a Pioneer or Alpine unit. I hope it doesn't brake again when my car runs out of warranty in mid 2004.

Sorry about the malfunctions.
Never had any COMAND problems. I use a 6 disc changer and a CD player for single CDs via the outlet in the glove compartment.
I always found good service at Autohaus, Pompano Beach; - noticed that you are a Floridian.

I haven't seen any problems with my command unit. I do have the 6 disc CD changer in the trunk for audio CD's. I rarely take the Nav disc out.
If you are having that many problems with it, then it's something we all should keep an eye out for.
Hope the new unit works out better for you.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I do have the six disc cd changer in the trunk, and is the only one I use to listen music from. The comand unit only has the navigation CD in it, and that is the one that got stuck in once, and recently (after replacing the unit) stoped reading the cd. Luckily it did it again when they tried to duplicate the failure.
Karl, I also take my car to Autohaus for service, but for purchases, Mercedes-Benz of Palm Beach.
Hey Tim, what have you done to improve the brakes on your beast, I am looking at the AMG brakes from the 2003 CLK55.

I also had problems with my comand system. A few months after purchasing my car the nav cd's would get stuck in it and they would not eject all the time. It also shorted out the other electronics in the car.
The unit was replaced and I have not had many other problems with it.
