HELP!! spilt liquid on the center console and in the shifter
Today i droped a qtr of a pot noodle on the center console of my clk 320 and it went all over the shifter as well. i cleaned up the mess as quickly as i could and went into work really pissed off
, then when i went to go home the car wouldn't start for about 10 mins then when it started the dash lights where flashing etc. I noticed i couldn't take it out of park but i knew about the release button for the shifter. I drove it home in LIMP mode in 1st gear and dried it out the best i could, so now im not getting any warning light faults but im still stuck in park and in LIMP mode.
Im thinking it could be the shifter unit thats messed up but what do i know

Call Potomac German Auto, if in the US, for a used replacement.
Check the DIY here in the forum.
The cost, if an issue, is far less than what the dealer will charge for new and labor.
The replacement is really straight forward and very easy. Figure first time under 30 minutes.
Just disconnect battery before removing any electrical parts like the shifter and unplugging the wiring and reconnect before hooking the battery back up

Im in the uk and got a price of 328+VAT from dealer. the big job is taking it out.. is the part called "shifter unit"???
