Question What's the difference between a 99' CLK 320 and 02' CLK 320 Sport?

My friend just bought a 1999 CLK 320 in white. He could get a 2002 CLK 320 SPORT in black. He's had the 99' CLK 320 for exactly one week. The person he dealt with said that there was no real difference. He didn't want to pay more if he was pretty much getting the same car. He wants to know

What's the difference between the 99' CLK 320 and 02' CLK 320 SPORT?

I'm not really a CLK person I'm more into my lil C-class... That's why I came here to ask you guys. I didn't want to give him false info.

Man, sorry to be the one to tell you, but your friend got put together. Aside from the many differences between the 99 and 00+ model year (search for my posts, I detailed a most of the differences between 99 and later CLK's, but if I'm not mistaken, the '02 320 sport also comes with the 430-esque AMG ground effects and nicer wheels than a normal 320. If I'm wrong about the sport package kit someone please let me know, but if you check my posts for the differences between a 99 and a 00+ you'll see that those differences alone are very substantial.

Next time, your friend should always do his research. NEVER listen to a salesman, they will do anything to get you to leave in the car. Hopefully the place he got it from has a return policy on used cars...

There has been lots of posts about differences between 98/99 vs. '00+ CLKS>

Josh is right about the differences. The only things different is that you get the CLK430/55 body kit, and the older AMG 5-spoke rims (fatter spokes used in '99-01 CLK430s).

I believe you also get the chrome exhaust tip like the CLK430... it basically mimics the CLK430 from the outside.... but nothing under the hood. It probably has a suspension system more like that of the CLK430 also.
