When driving in D and at around 20-30mph, my car will automagically rev up and back down from 1200 to 1000rpm over and over again, despite pressure on accelerator remaining the same. Why is this?

Lot of people looked in here but not a word in response... have I got a unique problem or have I missed a previously covered topic in the search results?

Odd to say the least - have you any fault codes when you've put it on Star - just a guess MAF??

I have yet to take it anywhere for diagnosis, I was hoping it'd be a little simpler.

The car is misfiring upon quick release of the accelerator, but I had put that down to a buggered fuel filter due to the wife letting it run on empty. A lot.

Find your local indi who has a Star - saves a lot of guesswork and it not worth throwing parts at it if its something simple - the Star will find most problems in seconds - problem solved and your sound a bit dangerous
