ATTN: W208 convertible owners interested in KMAC rear camber kits

So, I've been trying to source a kit to correct camber, caster, and toe in the rear much like the KMAC does for the front. The problem is, KMAC's part # 502026 doesn't work for the convertibles, per Kevin from KMAC:

I recall that three months ago a client in the US said that he machined up a bolt with the same head detail as the original to overcome this.

We have not checked it out, but the only basic difference to this bolt is the K-Mac bolt has a machined flat the full length so that it can engage the inner steel bush to make and retain camber adjustments.

To simplify things I will check this out myself and see if we can include a bolt specially made for the convertible in future kits. I will contact you again within the next week.
Well, that's interesting. I told him I didn't want him to go through any trouble as there's several adjustable rear arms available for us and this was his reply:

I'll advise you when they are ready, anyway. K-Mac is determined that the adjustment for the rear end of these models needs to be on the lower arm, as extending the upper arm to reduce negative camber always closes the gap between the tire and the inner fender. With wider wheels and modern tires, this is not a good alternative.

Additionally, I believe that it's easier to set the alignment with the lower arm adjustment, saving time on the hoist at the alignment shop, while the toe adjuster is always going to be an improvement as it gives double the factory toe adjustment.

Not only that, but we make the claim that we can supply camber, caster and toe kits for every Mercedes Benz model since the late sixties, this convertible problem caught us off guard and we have to satisfy that claim!

Regards,

Kevin
Talk about customer service! Not to mention we exchanged these emails in a matter of a couple days and they're based in Australia. So any of you guys interested in a KMAC rear kit and have a convertible, a custom kit is in process. I've already asked Kevin concerning the ETA as I really need to start dialing in my front and rear alignment; I'll keep this thread updated if anyone cares. I'm not affiliated nor endorsing KMAC, just thought this was some good info.

You do know there are kits out there that will give you the same results and are far less expensive?

Obviously I don't, or I would have mentioned them. I also don't appreciate your condescending tone as I'm sure you think I'm stepping on your toes here. I'm not -- I'm simply relaying some info to a forum that has supplied me with heaps of useful info. I don't endorse adj. rear arms, MB camber bolts, or KMAC; again, just passing onto other cab owners who are looking for options.

KMAC is the only quality kit I happen to know of that can give a wide range of camber, caster, and toe adjustment. If you know of another kit/company that can do this AND supplies the said special bolt KMAC mentioned for the convertibles, please share.

Easy tiger. I was simply passing along information, just like you. Also, from my experience, there isn't much of need to adjust the toe or caster on our cars.

Finally we've managed to get the sample bolt for the convertible rear suspension and we now have a rear camber and toe kit for these cars.

Price is $US345.

Sorry it's taken so long to get this little task accomplished, but we've had a lot of R & D work on lately.
Just thought I would pass this info along to those interested -- this is a direct email from KMAC.

I myself am not sure if I will be going adjustable rear arms or with the KMAC rear kit as my camber isn't terrible and as Ghost said, caster and toe isn't too big of an issue on the rears. Still, it's nice to know we cabriolet owners have an alternative to adj. arms.
