Never ending rattle goose chase
So about a week ago i hit a nasty pot hole (6-8") and bent my muffler tips up enough for them to rattle against the bumper cut out in the bodywork above. Warmed the muffler up and bent them back to normal angle. But ever since there's been two rattles I can't diagnose:
1) Seems to intermittently occur where the sunroof sliding cover sits in the headliner. When it occurs, applying pressure to the underside of the headliner stops it.
2) When engine is in D (not P or N) the muffler rattles frequently. It is nothing to do with the cats (removed), it's in the muffler area. The muffler is by Lorinser. Is it possible that nasty pot hole broke something INSIDE it?

I don't have a sunroof, so I can't help there.
The pothole may have busted your exhaust hanger. I'd try looking and seeing that a.) it's still attached to where it was originally bolted to and b.) the rubber bushings are still intact.

if you can get it on a lift or just get under it and shake the exhaust pipe right before the muffler you might be able to hear a little something in the exhaust pipe. in my case, the factory muffler was falling apart and pieces were falling down into the pipe. it was annoying as @#$% til i figured it out. i too only heard it while in Drive
