Spring Cups
I just changed my front spring cups from a #4 to a #1 which seemed to lower the car about 1/2 inch. Since the car originally came with a #4 in the front, does this mean the rear will have a #4 as well?
I want to make sure before I go and guy the rears.
Thanks

Most MB have diff pads front and back. these pads were designed to set the final ride hight of the vehicle. You can tell what size they are by looking at the "bumps" sticking down on the pads. 1 is level 1 2 is 2 and so on

Pads could be the same front and back, but not necessarily. In my case, I had 3's all the way around. I have a 320 cabrio fwiw.
Honestly, the pads are dirt cheap (like $4 on parts.com) so I would just go ahead and buy them. I'm in the process of trying to run zero pads all the way around but may want to revert to 1's if I'm having noise problems, so I'm just buying 1's F&R just in case. Never hurts to have extras laying around if you want to play with the height more.

I found out about my car setup from EPC. Apparently when I look up dlbehrns's car, EPC does not specify the spring pad setup. Perhaps the setup is only applicable to AMG cars.

Again ALL cars have a diff setup. it is based on acc and options. the factory only uses thes to set the final ride hight. the difference between the pads is very small you wont get much of a drop even from goging 4 to 1 bump. If you have a real intrest in the subject there is a neat thread on the 190rev site. I know it is a diff car but the idea is the same.

the difference from #1 pad to #5 is .67inches.

99CLK320,
what I was saying is that: there are 5 pads total, each with a different thickness. thinnest being #1 and thickest being #5. If you have a 5 and drop to a 1, I believe the drop will be about .67" or around a little over 1/2 inch.

The back seems really high compared to the front therefore Im going to have to change the rears also. I may just go with a #2 in the back to have the correct stance. Im thinking if I put a #1 in the back as well the car may look a little odd as far as the drop goes. I currently have the stock rims and am thinking of getting some 18's.
