Spring pads

This is something I don't know much about. Can anyone tell me what type of spring pads are require for Schatz springs. Would they be the same as the pads for H&R springs. And please make your answer in layman's terms.

Thanks

spring pads are spring pads, you would use the same 'type' no matter what springs you use. MB carries spring pads ranging from 1 dot (thinnest) to 5 dot (thickest).

The thicker the pad, the more of the shock it will absorb, giving you a better, smoother, cushier ride. The thinner the pad, the bumpier the ride. Ride height is also affected by the pads.

hope this helps.

Are there any recomendations on which pads to use. I want the car lower but i would like to keep the ride reasonable. Your input is appreciated.

i believe my original pads were 3 front, 2 rear. or 4 front, 3 rear.

i later installed #1 pads on all four corners. i don't notice a harsh ride or anything... i think the difference is very marginal

the change will be much more apparent if you get rims in 18" or 19" cause the tires won't absorb much of the shock

Used to be a CLK430
Can I go with #1's all around on stock shocks? If so, how much of a drop could I expect??

H&R is definitely way to go

I put on my H&R springs. The ride is firmer, but still comfortable, and the car looks so much different and better with them on!

For me, the Brabus suspension (i believe) is rated at a 1.2" drop. While doing the suspension, I put #1 pads in, which put it at a final drop of 2". Therefore, i'm thinking every change in pad will result to an approximate .25" difference.

Not abosolutely positive though.
