Wood Kit

I ordered a wood trimmed steering wheel, wood door pulls, and a wood shift knob from performance products for my w208 430. Does anybody know how i could install any of these three things myself? Thank You in advance.

The shift knob comes off really easily. There's just a trim ring on the bottom that you turn and then you just pull the shift knob right off. The door pulls are also easy. You can pop them off with a flathead screwdriver, and then you just pop the other ones right on. The steering wheel isn't too hard, but I don't know how to explain doing it. Perhaps someone else on here can explain the install in detail...

Steering Wheel Install

The steering wheel is relatively easy to change. At the dealership they charge about an hours labor. Realistically it should take only 30min.

1. Disconnect the battery just in case.

2. The red circles are the bolts which you need to unscrew to pull the airbag out. You will need a T27 bit. The two bolts are located behind the steering wheel.

3. The yellow circle is the harness which you need to pull to remove the airbag.

4. The green circle is the hex bolt for the steering wheel.

Good Luck!

Great tutorial! I'll be changing my steering wheel to the bird's eye one as well and this will help me out, too! ;0)

Thanks

thanks, i switched the shift knob and the door pulls. I was going to do the steering wheel, but what is a t26 bit? Would it be part of a standard drill set? Thanks again.
