Transmission Problem? Big or Small?
Young lady here with no knowledge of cars, so I'm hoping someone can help me out so I don't get taken for a ride (pun intended).
I have a 2002 CLK 320 with 43,000 miles on it. About seven months ago, I had a transmission fluid leak, which I took in to have fixed at a respectable independent Benz shop. First, they thought it was just the o-ring, so they replaced it. Well, that wasn't it--fluid still leaked.
Then I was told it was some seal, which in the process of fixing they said they broke the conductor plate. Kept my car overnight, replaced the conductor plate (no charge to me), fixed the seal and no further leaks since--at least that I can see externally.
NOW, seven months later, when I brake, say as I'm coming to a stop light, the car slightly jerks forward--and I can actually hear the transmission shift as it's jerking forward. In addition, the car slightly vibrates when it's idle (always has, actually). I'm fearing the worse such as the fluid leak caused internal computer damage, now need a new transmission, etc.
Any insight on where to start to figure this out (in the most effective manner) would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

transmission mount can cause vibrations...approx 125 dollars parts/labor
engine mount can cause vibrations...approx 300 dollars parts/labor
flex disc can cause transmission jerk when failing...approx 200 dollars parts/labor
both can be checked under the car for play and visual inspection for cracks and leaks...

If you are changing out your motor mounts use the mounts from the W209 instead of the W208. they are much better and will last a lot longer.
I changed mine out for the W209 mounts 2 years ago and just the physical size difference made me a believer.
You can do a search for people making the switch too.
