My Headlight Mod (PICS -56k Warning)

Here's the Euro Xenons I got from Steve installed. The housings look so much nicer than the Halogen ones they replaced.

Many thanks to Brad D. for the KICK *** sig by the way!

Here are the LED city lights

Although they look really blue in this pic, they really look more white than blue in person.

Here are the low beams of the Euro Xenons

As you can see in this pic, the city lights look white and not blue.

People who cut me off will not like me...

I took the 8000k HIDs that I put in my halogen housings and put them in the high beams of my Euro Xenons. They're ridiculously bright. I'll have to use them sparingly, but night trips to vegas won't really feel like night trips now!

Many thanks to Jay (Class C) and Mark Cummings for convincing me to go ahead and brighten up my high beams a bit...

No, the M-17 (Polarg, I think) is an incandescent bulb with glass that has been painted blue. I don't like these bulbs because the blue color fades pretty quickly and they end up looking greenish or yellow.

Also, I like my lenses looking completely clear when the lights aren't on. Blue tinted bulbs tend to give a blue look to the light housing when it's off so I try to stay away from them

I was able to find an actual LED bulb that fit into the citylight socket. The bulb is colorless in color and the color temperature of the white is around 6000k. As the bulb is LED it will probably last the life of the car, and will never fade or change color. Also, it "pops" on and off, just like Xenon bulbs. :0)

Josh,
can you share with us where you picked up these LED bulbs? I think many of us here are quite interested in picking some up.

Thanks!
Danny

The Philips Bulbs aren't the same bulbs I used. The Philips bulbs are incandescent vs. LED. The Philips bulbs are advertised as having a color temp of 3300k, mine are closer to 6500k so they're match especially well if you have 6000k bulbs. I got the LED's a while ago and lost the contact info for the company, but I found it again last night. I'm not at home right now so I don't have the info with me, but I'll post the company info later tonight for anyone that's interested in these bulbs. Basically, the application is a Bayonet connector white LED bulb for a 1891 bulb size.

Question...

Steve

Do you know if i would benefit from this on my 02 E55? I have xenons now and not sure if that's any better than the philips 6000k or 8000k??? Which one would work for my application and which would be brighter?

Thanks!

greetingz,
steve, Correct me if i'm wrong, but I think Brad means regular Xenon, correct?

It is to my knowledge that Bi-Xenon means, they use 1 xenon bulb to control both low & high beam, but the W208 headlight assemblies only come in regular Xenon, whether US or Euro Spec.

Hey mmgrad. Technically, mine aren't official "bi-xenons" Mine is a somewhat b@$t@rdized version, and I'm just using the phrase as both my low and high beams are HID Xenon lights. :0)

word...

jam E55: if you already have US spec xenons there is no way you can justify spending money on a euro spec xenon set...it will be a waste of money for the little gain of light you might get...
