How use tool ? Coil spring compressor ?
How use tool ? Coil spring compressor ?
Supposedly, this is the tool for compressing the coil springs on a year 2000, W208 CLK. I don't own this tool, but am trying to understand its application from the image.
First assumption: In order to compress this spring one must somehow fit these plates between the springs and the upper and lower spring seats. See attached image. Getting the plates in appears to be an impossible task, so, my assumption must be wrong.
Next assumption: The plates, instead of fitting between the spring and seat, must fit between the coils of the spring. Is this correct ?
If no, then can someone tell me how this tool is used ?
Thanks
PS. Am unable to find any printed or pdf instructions for using this tool. If you have some, then kindly let me know.

First insert one plate at top of spring as far up as possible, and one at bottom as low down as possible. Then insert rod through hole in wishbone arm under spring and push through bottom plate then into the top one, rotate bar to engage plate with It's keyway. Then use a socket wrench to tighten bar which thus compresses the spring for removal. Fitting is reversal. Simple.
