China Double Din DVD Head Unit???
Hi guys! I'm a newbie. I've been searching the forums for a post regarding this replacement head unit that comes from China but can't see the right information on it...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ht_4592wt_1254
Has anyone had experience in installing and using this type of head unit? We'd appreciate some pix and install insights on this. Many thanks!

for that price might as well contact steve at mbenzNL.com factory look and a person that knows how to install it to look like it came from factory. Just will cost a few 100 extra but quality work and product from him.

I agree
It would be nice if someone who bought one was to weigh in with their experience. I would be interested if it works well and the audio quality is on target.

That Headunit looks so cheap ! You would do much better if you buy a pioneer, eclipse, kenwood, clarion any well known gps head unit double din size !!

Personally I like it. It looks exactly like an OEM unit. Unfortunately I'm one of those guys that thinks aftermarket appearing head-units cheapen the MB look and feel. However, I realize the stock unit will just not do, this would be the next best thing. But for that price I'd need someone somewhere on earth to vouch for it.

I'm caught in the middle either you go with an aftermarket that is well known OR the actual unit that belongs in the w208.... and THAT one my friend does not belong in the w208. Looks like it belongs in the w209.

ive seen one of these in person at one of those audio close-out sales and it runs pretty nice but the plastic trim and button are complete garbage, as for true quality in the car i am not sure i just got to mess with the interface but honestly, get a double din alpine/pioneer touchscreen and it will be your best bet.

I couldn't wait - sorry :(
Thanks for all the input guys. They are very much appreciated and I agree with some of your views. I'm more concerned on the install and wirings that I will have to go through to have this unit installed on the CLK (I usually do my own installs for sound systems). I'm sorry but I couldn't sleep thinking about this unit so I decided on ordering one already
I had previous experience of a China double din DVD unit internally branded as 'Hualingan' installed on my X5 E53 since a year ago...
Had a good experience with this unit.
There are several things why I veer away from aftermarkets e.g. Pioneer, Alpine, Kenwood etc.: I'd go for a Blaupunkt if they had a double din DVD HU because it's also European - German (but unfortunately they don't ). Maybe this is very shallow but it does not feel right to put famous Japanese branded head units (no ofense to Japs and electronics - I Luv sushi and Sony! ) on the dash of a German car. That's just me. I have them on my Toyota's and Honda's!
This China unit yes ofcourse is Chinese but it disguises itself as an OEM and looks like one too. I don't usually hang out with car enthusiasts so friends and family do not know the difference from OEM to aftermarkets anyway. Hualingan actually did a good job on the X5 model IMHO. GPS, Ipod, DVD, TV, etc. you got them all here. Everything worls perfectly for about a year now.
You can always change your speakers, amps, crossovers, subs to Alpine, MTX and even Rokford's since they're all hidden and tucked away out of sight. I'm sure they'll produce great sound with this unit just like my X5.
I will share my install and overall experience on this China unit once it arrives and installed. I'll probably get it in about 3-5 days time. I'm excited like a 12 year old waiting for his toy haha

The BMW units do seem to work much better (we still have a test unit going.... I don't know why they can't seem to do the same with MB). One BIG problem with the Haulingan for MB, is it is not a dual operating system unit. The whole thing runs off of Windows CE, and is VERY slow to switch functions in a Mercedes.

Thank you for reminding me! I had a not so pleasant experience with this endeavour. I ordered one over CTOBAY.com, paid for it and waited for a long time only to find out that they do not have the w208 model in-stock. There were a lot of email exchanges, picture of dashboard requests, etc but ultimately they did not have the unit for our CLK's W208 body. What they actually have and pictured on their advertising (please see my first post pix) is for a later model of the CLK, NOT for MY W208 as they advertised!
The SAME THING happened in ebay but at least they inquired first before taking my money. NON of them have the unit for MY W208 as they advertise! (They did a full refund of my money by the way)
In the meantime, I settled for a china generic double din headunit...
OT: Is my w208 dash same as the C220's or C class mercedes' (W202)? I might just look for these DVD units then.

They should revise their ebay posts / item descriptions!
chdck it out...http://www.ebay.com/itm/MERCEDES-BEN...ht_10459wt_927
It's a waste of time and effort.
