Park and ESP issue

I have just recently purchased a second hand CLK 230K year 2000.

I would some help resolving some strange issues.

1st Problem. Sometimes the AUTO gear box will not come out of park. If I put a pen down the hole to release it drives but stays in one gear while driving so can't do more than 20-30 mph before I revs to high.

Strange thing is other times it's completely fine and. Turn key press brake and move gear to drive and it drives prefect.

It has this problem say every 15th time I get in and drive.

2nd Problem. After about 5-10 of driving the ESP light comes up. It goes away when I stop and start again.

I hope someone can give me some pointers to check for.

Thank you.

I recommend you dump the codes and post them.

Keep hearing on forums about brake light sensor. Could it be this?

Today I replaced the brake light sensor. Now the gearbox is working fine. Still getting ESP light after 10 mins or driving or so....
