PLEASE HELP Playing iPod, iPhone or iPad music through your cassette player

Hey guys

I own a 2000 clk 320

I recently purchased Monster iCarPlay Cassette Adapter 800 for iPod and iPhone

It worked perfectly the first night... but now it keeps getting cut off. I think it has something to do with the phone.

It shows a phone on my radio screen.

What did I do wrong? Can anyone help?

Thanks so much

JC

I had trouble because it pushes the cassette door open to much and it cuts off.

A couple of years ago I installed a Philips cassette adapter, Walmart, $8.
Still works great.
You haven't stated the source of your problem, but, if it is that the cord conflicts with the cassette door, ie. cord keeps door from closing or staying closed, then I have a solution.

Put cassette adapter in radio.
Pull radio.
Use dremel to enlarge any of the multiple vent holes in radio chassis, so that the 3.5 mm plug can be pulled through.
thread plug and wire through chassis exiting from the hole you made.
Remove storage tray that is located beneath radio.
Drill hole in tray big enough that 3.5 mm plug can be pulled through.
Install radio.
Now the cord does not conflict with cassette door,
and the plug exits neatly from the storage tray.
Search the forums, and you will find some more info on this trick.

I pretty much did what pancho suggested, except I just dremeled the cassette door so I could use a tape if i had too. So much less pretty and less permanent but works !

If you don't want to go with a completely different stereo head unit, then I suggest you get a generic FM modulator. Not the kind that transmits over the air, but the kind that plugs in-line with your antenna line behind the radio. These have the best sound quality you can get without a real iPod or direct AUX interface, much better than the tape adapters or over-the-air type FM transmitters. Audiovox used to make a good one that you could get for about $50 and install is not bad if you know a little about 12 volt wiring. You could just wire it to a cig lighter adapter or splice in behind the cig lighter.

This one looks like it would work fine:

I don't know if there are any direct adapters for the stock radios in these cars, but many cars do have aftermarket options to connect through the CD changer or satellite radio controls. Call a good car audio shop and they will tell you what is available if anything.

I installed a SCOSCHE device in a Jeep wrangler, and it works very, very well.

I found these on ebay - looks like agood option

I currently have the one that has a wire running into a tape for the tape player, I'm having the CD changer fixed and putting it back in. The sound through the current tape set up is ****.

I think I will get sick of the CD stacker soon enough and probably buy one of these units that plug into its jack at the back of the radio.

That Grom unit isn't listed as being compatible with 208 radios
