Did you use a primer? and did you remove the tail lights before painting them?

No we didn't use a primer. We removed the taillights, cleaned them, dried them and then started to spray them.

I let them dry for about 1 hour until putting thewm back in. They may not need an hour but I guess just use your judgement on if they look dry enough to be able to maneuver them.

HI cgmike10. Yes I do live by there. I'm actually closer to Astoria Park, not sure if you're familiar with where that is. Are you familiar with the area?

Not big on the smoked look, but IMHO, the rear would look better if you removed the CLK430 and AMG emblems.

Is it possible to completely black out the taillights to where they look as black as the black paint on the car on a bright day? While still being able to see your brake lights?

I believe you can. Mine are pretty dark and you can go darker if you want. You pretty much will always be able to see the lights when they're on. Check out smokedlamps.com
