+1
The 430s are 3" as well, believe the 320 is 2.25 or 2.5.

Thanks Kev and everyone else. I know that the w209 is different than the w208 55s. The w209 has one pipe after res going to the muffler but the w205 55 has two pipes going from the res to the muffler. But I know they both have the exact same engine which is the m113 55. I'm doing a dual muffler on my w208 320 which is soon to be 55 (conversion). I had the driver passenger sided customised to fit a secondary canister and now I'm trying to decided what inlet size muffler and piping I should run after the secondary cats. I'm doing the back end of the exhaust for now(from secondary cats to the end) and once I put the 55 in I will do the front part(changing the cats and O2s).

Food for thought. Different car but with my 7.5 ltr, when doing exhaust a single cat, single muffler, with 3" piping was optimum. For the duel exhaust, still 3" pipe off the headers to single cat, Duel 2.5" pipes back to the duel mufflers. Bigger pipes would hurt the bottem end. Different beast but just something to ponder in your decision.

bobbyjo my man, always reading my mind. the reason why i'm trying to decide is because i have a 320 right now and i just had the trunk altered onn the bottom passenger side to be able to run a second tank to run a true dual exhaust. i have already deleted my resinator and i want to do the piping from the secondary cats all the way to the tanks but i also dont want to loose back presuure while i have my 320 for the next couple of months and i wanted to know what size i have to go with to not have that issue as well as being able to accomidate the 55 engine that i'mputting in later in the summer time. so i guess going with the 2.5 is the way to go right? should i run an x pipe also? i'm not gonna get rid of my secondary cats since mine is a daily driver and i would like to pass smog and possible inspection without issues.

also are the cats the same for the 55 and the 320?would i be aable to use the same cats and piping and just change the manifold since i'm going from 6 pipe manifold to a 8?

2.5 should be plenty for true dual exhaust, just as mentioned above going with full 3" would result in a major loss of low end torque. As far as the cats being the same between the 320 and the 55 I'm not 100% but I think the piping on the 55 is larger diameter as apposed to the 320.

Come on Ash... stop with the tease and bring that monster to life!! Im not sure on the exhaust specs of the 320, but I would have to assume they are smaller than the 55's. Just wouldn't make sense from a performance standpoint because the needs of each are quite different. Some kind of a crossover pipe is necessary for you since you already deleted the common point (resonator). Especially since im sure you have plans for a blower in the future!!

haha, i know Bobby but i'm just finishing all the other stuff right now, i did some carbon fiber seats along with a bunch of other carbon parts as well as replacing the whole stereo system with an actual mini pc with windows 7 to handle all engine tunning from onboard, doing my new bumpers as we speak and custom headlights. oh and just had the car fully repainted the same color and am installing the AMG 6/4 calipers with a custom hood. WOW ive been doing alot, haha. oh also the tru dual exhaust. as for the blower i can lie i had the bracket CNCed for the vortech blower so yes you are right as usual my friend lol. I guess i will be going withh the 2.5" piping because it seems like i wont loose any back pressure on the 320 for meanwhile and also it would be great with the 55. i'll pot some pictures of the progress soon.

Nice!! Im sure everyone will be looking forward to that round of pics! Im thinking the 2.5 duals may be a little big for the 320 but you'll forget all bout that when you add the 55. I have a M1sc procharger in the garage but work has been taking a front seat . Very interested in windows 7 mod and hope it works as your tuner/monitor!!
