Interesting outcome with seafoam

'99 CLK430...... ran seafoam thru the upper intake.... 1/2 bottle for 1 hr. Fired the car up..... nothing. Every other car I have used seafoam on has spewed smoke for 10 min. I only got a small puff of smoke on hard acceleration and that was it. I have since driven it 35 miles with no smoking. Was the engine really that clean?

Could be. I haven't seen a single post on this forum talking about repairing the engine internals on a CLK. With synthetic oil and the very close tolerances in modern engines there's no reason for gunk to build up assuming all the routine maintenance schedules are followed. I had one Benz tech tell me these are almost unlimited mile engines. I've read a few posts where someone has over 200,000 miles on their CLK and not had to repair anything major like the engine or trans. Lots of small stuff needs fixing all the time but that's true of any 12 year old car regardless of the mileage. Heck I remember some 20 years ago when I was working at a BMW dealer someone came in with a early 80's 420 SEL that had 385K miles on it with the original engine and trans and it still looked great too. Mercedes makes good cars if they're maintained properly.

Same outcome with me. Ran it through a vacuum line let it sit and no smoke on start up
