Out of curiosity ! I need an explanation ( fogs lights)

. I was driving and both fog lights went out. So I knew it was a fuse. I opened the panel on the side of the door and it's top row fuse number 9 and it takes 15. *So I changed it to 15 and would not work. I put 20 and it works. Why is that ?
I have hid conversion fog lights and had them for a year running on 15
Ty in advance

Hmm? Seems something is running too hot for the proper fuse, and blows a 15A, but not hot enough to blow a 20A. Something is hotter that normal. Might be a loose filament in one of the fog lamps. When it randomly contacts again, they sometimes burn very, very bright, and hot--a sort of arcing light. Are both fogs equally bright, or is one brighter.

When you say, "So I changed it to 15 and would not work.", do you mean that you put in a new 15A fuse, and that the new fuse blew out ?

I'd stick to the recommended rating, by bumping it up to 20 you are allowing more current to flow thru the wires than designed for but being a German car it may be over engineered and not matter.

If I put 15a I can't use my fog. They won't turn on

Did you recently change your bulbs to a higher K? If so that could be the reason. The wiring is meant to run with halOgen bulbs and when you to high intensity setup that happens. It's not a big deal to run 20A, just check your fog light wires(the factory wiring not the hid kits wiring) and see if they are hot after having your fogs on for about 10 minutes on the 20A fuse, I the wiring is not hot then your good to go. Make sure you do this when the car is cold, preferably after the car has been parked for 5 to 6 hours.
