Acceleration
Acceleration
Left for work this morning, to find my key in the ignition, and car on..A little pre-occupied on a con call when I got in last eve. Had to jump start the car this morning, no issue there, however car has no ( zero ) accelartion when I push the gas pedal. Maintains steady idle as normal, lights on dash state " ESP, BAS issues " Any thoughts ??
Thanks a ton for the reply, I did try the steps above 3 times, but that did not reset the error message. The BAS light on th lower left corner is on, and the dash shows 1 malfunction, and the the detail is " ESP Visit Workshop " Let me know if you have any other thoughts...

Will the car accelerate? If if does then see if you can clear the codes with an OBDII scanner. If you don't have one Autozone does but I don't know if they will clear the codes for you or find an Indy that will do it cheaply or for free.
Yhe car will not accelerate. It simply remains at Idle all the time. Will move into gear, and around garage, but nothing above Idle. I called my Mercedes dealer to ask price of Pedal Value Sensor B-37, thinking that could be bad. That is what the gas pedal cable connect to under hood. I get the same effect when this is plugged in or not, he referred to this as a Electronic Gas Actuator at a cost of 2K for the part? Seems crazy high...
When you depress the throttle a cable will open a butterfly and allow for more air to come inside the engine, right?
If that is so, then for some reason the butterfly is not opening. It's impossible to regulate electronically (without another butterfly) an engine in such a way that when opening the inlet butterfly it would just keep idling. Then, it seems obvious the butterfly is not opening. Check the cable, the links....... leave the electronics for later.

WHAT? All MBs are drive by wire. There is a non electrical cable that runs from the foot feet to and electronic sending unit which sends an electronic signal to the throttle body(I think). What kinda butterfly you talkin bout Willis? Monarch?
Anyway, MKELAKEFRONT, forget what I said. Think "Electronics" all the way!

From my experience the brake switch fault will not prevent the car from accelerating...
Maybe there's no sensor problem that will prevent the car from accelerating...
Maybe the problem is in the motor that controls the butterfly or in the circuitry that controls the motor.....

All, I appreciate your input and help. I attached a couple of pics for review.
The initial problem has morphed. I did the Left , Right, Center thing above, and initially that did not work. I then attempted to clear the code through a series of console, computer, key in position 1 type things I had read.
The last thing I did was to unplug the Pedal Value Sensor Potentiometer ( see pic ) this is the unit attached to the throttle cable, I assume sensing the pedal / throttle position, and electronically sending info ahead. I unplugged, ran through the series of items above, both while running the car, and not running. The car maintained an idle of 1000-1100 RPM's. When I plugged the sensor back in, I had acceleration. I was quite happy at this point. The only light on was my Service B light ( any idea how to make that dissapear ? ) had been exceeded by 600 miles..
Being a gearhead, and mostly Knucklehead, I then thought the car was safe to drive 92 miles to Chicago. While in route to Chicago the " Check Engine" light came on ( lower right side of dash ) however the car ran fine, acceleration passing, shifting all seemed well. Ran the car up to 90 MPH to test, and I maintained 25.8mpg during the trip down, and back.
The new issue is this. When initially started the car was at 1000-1100 rpm during idle, when I arrived to the hotel in Chicago, and again on my arrival home, the idle had degraded greatly to be at 300-500 rpm, almost feeling like the car would stall. no issues on the ride down, or back, as 60-80mph was maintained on the expressway.
Thoughts on the low Idle ?? Do I need to have the car Scanned and or re-programmed ? How can I turn off the Service B, and Check Engine lights ??
Thanks again in advance for your response. This site is great !

Idle of 1000-1100 in drive is too high, should be more in the 600 range. CEL will need a reader/scanner to reset. Service B reset AFTER you preform the service is reset with the "R" button on the dash. Navigate to the service interval screen on the dash and hold the "R" button in till it askes if you want to reset, press reset again.
