Acceleration

When you depress the throttle a cable will open a butterfly and allow for more air to come inside the engine, right?
If that is so, then for some reason the butterfly is not opening. It's impossible to regulate electronically (without another butterfly) an engine in such a way that when opening the inlet butterfly it would just keep idling. Then, it seems obvious the butterfly is not opening. Check the cable, the links....... leave the electronics for later.

Anyway, MKELAKEFRONT, forget what I said. Think "Electronics" all the way!

From my experience the brake switch fault will not prevent the car from accelerating...
Maybe there's no sensor problem that will prevent the car from accelerating...
Maybe the problem is in the motor that controls the butterfly or in the circuitry that controls the motor.....
The initial problem has morphed. I did the Left , Right, Center thing above, and initially that did not work. I then attempted to clear the code through a series of console, computer, key in position 1 type things I had read.
The last thing I did was to unplug the Pedal Value Sensor Potentiometer ( see pic ) this is the unit attached to the throttle cable, I assume sensing the pedal / throttle position, and electronically sending info ahead. I unplugged, ran through the series of items above, both while running the car, and not running. The car maintained an idle of 1000-1100 RPM's. When I plugged the sensor back in, I had acceleration. I was quite happy at this point. The only light on was my Service B light ( any idea how to make that dissapear ? ) had been exceeded by 600 miles..
Being a gearhead, and mostly Knucklehead, I then thought the car was safe to drive 92 miles to Chicago. While in route to Chicago the " Check Engine" light came on ( lower right side of dash ) however the car ran fine, acceleration passing, shifting all seemed well. Ran the car up to 90 MPH to test, and I maintained 25.8mpg during the trip down, and back.
The new issue is this. When initially started the car was at 1000-1100 rpm during idle, when I arrived to the hotel in Chicago, and again on my arrival home, the idle had degraded greatly to be at 300-500 rpm, almost feeling like the car would stall. no issues on the ride down, or back, as 60-80mph was maintained on the expressway.
Thoughts on the low Idle ?? Do I need to have the car Scanned and or re-programmed ? How can I turn off the Service B, and Check Engine lights ??
Thanks again in advance for your response. This site is great !
