It looks very nice, I prefer same amount of tint front and rear windows, but I realize it is illegal (my wife doesn't care on her car).

Once again it looks very nice.

It looks good. I agree with pocholin that I like the uniform look of having the same level of tint all around but I know in so-cal the cops seem to give people a harder time with that done. Even though any tint at all on the front windows is illegal. Your car still has a nice clean look and now it will stay cooler, esp. with the kind of weather we've been having.

Thanks for the comments...

Josh... a meet tonight? dam, i wish i would have knew ahead of time... i went wedding shopping with my fiancee today, and just got back... next time for sure

e_one09: I had the windows done at a local shop, So Cal Auto accessories... their core business is tints... The work is ok, and the prices are fair. They've done all the cars in the past, so I feel confident about their work...

Samoan_Ridah & pocholin: Yeah, it would be cleaner to have all the same color, but I hate having to deal with fix-it tickets... I even chose to use a slightly lighter tint... i use to have Limo tint in my last car... couldn't see anything backing up...

with the recent hot weather, the tint is almost necessary...

but this is what I wanted to get your opinion about... the CLK comes with a small tinted block around the rear view mirror, and i thought it looked a little odd... so, i added a visor tint band across the top of the windshield.

it makes the top a little more fluid, plus it blocks out glare from those sunsets & it hides the radar better...

how does it look? not too ghetto i hope? the tint shop made it real ugly like those ricer cars, so I had to redo it myself so it looked more natural...

I have just got my car tinted too. 35% all around. I am not so pleased with the result though. How much did it cost you?

Yeah, 35 is really conservative... I got 13 in the back, and 32 in the front. In reality, whether it is 35 or 13, they both keep the car just as cool... the only difference between the two is how much privacy you want from prying eyes...

I paid $125 for the whole thing, using Johnson & Johnson Titanium compound tint film.

If you are considering redoing your tint, my shop charges $40 to remove everything... but it takes a couple hours due to the rear window's refroster lines...

For those of you who have tinted windows, does your front windows look funky towards the back where those defroster bumps are? I can't stand the way it looks on mine and I just had it done. Makes it look like the tint is old and starting to peel. I'll post a pic if nobody knows what I'm talking about.

Are you talking about little air bubbles around those black dots?

Yes, exactly. Do you guys have that too or did the shop I took it to do something wrong?

those are very common... do you have them around ur back quarter windows, and on your rear window too? The rear window should be the most noticeable if the tint is dark....

they are like that because those black dots are raised, so when they attach the tint, there is a small air gap between the raise dot & the glass...

i know of 3 ways to get rid of those "air pockets"...

1.) sand down those black dots before tinting... then you'll have no air pockets since the surface will be flat. just don't mess up the glass. you can try scraping them off too, but don't know how hard it is.
2.) when the tint is freshly applied, use a high heat gun to heat the area where the black bumps are, and use a 3M squeegie covered in a towel and press firmly to remove the air pockets. the heat gun will remove the moisture and make the tint stick better. Best heat sources in order: Torch, Heat Gun, Hair Dryer
3.) Let the tint dry & cure, then, cut out the area where it bubbles. Next, get some thin vinyl like material, and affix that to the window. That will create a solid black bar. This looks better in the back windshield as it is less noticeable.

hope this helps???

Thanks for taking the time to step the process out. I don't know if I want to have to go through all of this though. Maybe I'll wait until my next fix-it ticket and give the shop your instructions and have them do it.

Thanks again.

Thanks... thats one of those pretty cheap mods that look good, IMO. Plus, I don't have any badges in the back, so I figured, I better represent what I have under the hood...

CLK_Ivan, I'll take a better pic tonight....
