Akebono brake pad EUR853 from APW

HEY all

installed front/only pads today. took it for test drive, 1st push brake very soft, 2nd push/pump & then is perfect...& then again 1st pump soft 2nd hard etc......WTF (was hard b4 but so much noise, had ebc).

no leak or sound/noise what so ever. btw i took the cap off the fluid tank. so i can push back piston.

plz any advise

Now I hear hissing air flow sound when step on brake pedal. Its coming from right above brake pedal inside cabin.
Was not there b4.

What you’re describing sounds like spongy brakes. The fluid is supposed to be changed every two years. If it's been longer than two years, the simple answer is a flush is probably due. The longer answer is here.

What about the hissing air sound when pushing brake pedal? Btw fluid was never changed.

It sounds like your brakes need bleeding at the least. The hissing is quite possibly the brake booster, you're hearing it more because of the longer pedal stroke due to air in the lines.

Do it yourself then.

I'd still vote that bleeding the brakes is the first thing to try, that'll kill two birds with one stone

I second bleeding the brakes first. Getting an extra person to pump the brakes and you get in a wheel well won't cost anything. Bleed and see if problem still exsists. If not then get that fluid flushed. The car should brake as if it were new.

Some systems can take an age to bleed. The last car I had was a 6L GTO, that system really didn't "like" vacuum bleeders. Try the conventional way. If you can't get clear steady fluid from each caliper it might be possible there's a tiny air leak. You made sure you never stressed the lines when you changed the pads ?

Somethings sounds as though it's just gone wrong since the pad change.
