Drop my 55 cabrio

I need to slam this here car down an inch or two. Who got the 411 on the right springs for a 2002 CLK55 Cabrio?

I would go with Eiback springs and Bilstein shocks. That dropped my old 928 about an inch or so and handling was outstanding. No disappointments with this combo.

99CLK320,
Do you want a competitive suspension once it is lowered? Get Vogtland and I would go with Bilstein Sports.

Hey Mark, how are you doing? I hope the strut bar situation worked out for u. I'm on the h&r sport cup kit. I ride #1 spring pads all around and I rub but I think with #3 or #4 will clear nicely. The ride is awesome and I think you will like the ride and it will match your name, uncleslam

Sorry guys, I have to change my notify to instant instead of once per week I was hoping for springs to drop it a little without affecting the ride or my wallet much. The problem is that none of the springs offered are for the cabrio, which is about 350 lbs heavier then hardtop. So I'm kind of left guessing, unless I can find another clk55 cabrio owner with experience. I'm pretty happy with the current shocks firmness. I only installed the rear sway so far Sonny, but it did tighten up the rear nicely. I think I'll see how much I can gain with spring pads first.

99CLK320,
You might get a little less than 1/2" drop if you have #5pads all around and you go to #1s. Do a Search for spring pads and you will find the thickness of each. It aint much. I researched springs and pads till I was blue in the face. H&R has two kits one that will give you about an inch and the other I believe they say will give you 1.9" drop. Do you really want to slam it? If you do you gotta have everything just right or you run into rubbing problems. Eiback gives you about an inch and you keep the good ride. Vogtland gives about an inch but a stiffer ride and great cornering. Thats what I have. Those are about your ony three choices unless you want to cut off your current springs which is not a bad idea cuz it will save you some $. Find a good race shop that can determine the rate of compression and suggest or cut as much as you need to get the drop you want.
