Floormat is folded or creased...

Does anyone else's driver's side floormat have a crease in the middle of it? Every time I get in or out of the car I have to straighten it out by stepping on the top of it and pulling on the botton towards me. This may be a silly and stupid problem to some but it really annoys me. I want to order new mats but I am wondering if this is going to just end up happening again. I just wanted to know if yours does that to.

In my old Mazda, there was a hook on the floor of the car that the mat latched on to so that when your feet move and push on the mat, it still stays in place. Mercedes puts so much thought into the smallest details I am surprised they left something like this out.

I actually have the same problem for the passenger side floor mat. There is a huge crease near the part where it bends or folds up. Both the driver side and passenger side floormats also tend to move around and not stay in place. I was thinking of getting new floor mats too but that would be useless if the problem occurs again.

The dealer gives out free floormat clips. I dont know where they're suppose to go though and I dont think they prevent the creases. I tried putting velcro under the floormat and on the floor but they didnt stick. Let us know if you find a solution to this problem.

i use two floor mat clips on each mat, and it has since stopped moving... i think the new benzes have velcro on the bottom of the mats, though I'm not 100% positive...

but, yeah, just use 2 clips (1 on each side) and the mat will sit very securely... no more crinkles in the mats...

if you need me to take a picture of where to mount the clips, let me know... i'll try and help if i can

Talking Re: Floormat is folded or creased...

Bought a new set of mats in January and the parts guy gave me a few sets of these clips for free. Clips work great so far.

yea mmgrad, where do you mount the clips? You don't have to take pics if its too much trouble, a brief description would do. TIA

Problem I see it is the mats are junk. Backing is only a soft foam type instead of a hard backing on most other mats. Seems out of place on a Mercedes Benz, a real cheap mat.

ok, fair enough... so, on the floor in front of the front seats, you will see a raise carpet area, its right before all the mechanics underneath the seat

you can pin the mat clips there, 1 on each side... clip it as far back as possible on that raised section, that way, your floor mat will cover more sureface towards the seat.

And, if your seats are set really low, make sure the bottom of the seats don't hit the clips. Or, you can just move it up about 1-2mm and that should be plenty of clearance for the clips.

Hope this helps... if not, let me know, and i'll take a pic... i'm just going photo crazy... trying to make good use of my digi-cam

that is exactly how i feel... they are by far the cheapest mats I've seen for a long time... i think my old Honda mats are better constructed... at least there is a hook to prevent moving/folding...

I too completely agree with this. Usually, the OEM mats are backed by a stiff nylon, potato-sac backing. Maybe if I get a new set I'll take them to a seamstress and have them add a sturdier material of some sort to the back.

Even the $20 sets at Pep Boys are more solid than these. Just don't have the CLK emroidery or the custom fit.

I have a set of the all season floor mats in my car so I've never had the problem of the regular CLK floor mat creasing. And the all season floor mats are thick rubber so they dont crease or move out of position either.

I also like them because they give a nice clean sporty look to the car and they are very easy to keep clean.

all weather mats

These are the mats I have, they aren't bad looking, and are really easy to clean up (even though mine are pretty dirty right now).

Those rubber honeycomb mats with the molded MB logo are SUPER!

If you buy a set of these charcoal rubber mats for the SL (they fit the CLK perfectly) - you only get 2 mats and they cost only $40 at ALL MB dealers.

Had mine for 30,000 miles and the MB rubber mats look like BRAND new.

ps -

I got them originally for my 2001 SL because it had the light beige interior, but traded it after a few months, because of mechanical problems. Plus, the CLK provided much more comfort, power, driving pleasure.

My dealer threw in the rubber mats front & rear for free. Just put them on top of the carpet mats.

Thanks for the pics, didn't even notice until today that you had added them. I think they look pretty good too. I was debating whether or not to go with black carpet mats but those rubber ones look good and you can just hose 'em down when dirty.

the regular mats definitely look better....

I think I'd prefer to get the regular mats and try the mat clips. Where can I get those clips Danny? I hate having to go to the dealership to ask for anything. Do you have any extras you could sell me?

the dealerships will have it.. if you talk to your advisor, he/she might hook you up for free...

if not, check PepBoys or Autozone or Kragens... those places should carry it also.... if you can't find it, let me know... i could use 2 more for the driver side (took them off and can't find them now)

so, if I go get some, i'll pick you up a set or 2....

That would be so awesome. Hey, never thought of Pep Boys for something like that. I'll check it out today. If I find some decent ones I'll get you a set, if you don't beat me to it.
