Rough Idle Problem - HELP!
New to the site but have been re-searching for months. Just picked up a 2002 CLK 430 with AMG package a month ago and love the car...great ride and lots of power. Only 75000 miles. I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
I have noticed an issue develop over the last few weeks...
It seems that when I am parked or waiting at a light sometimes my idle starts to jump around and the car shakes a bit due to low rpms for only about 10 - 15 seconds and then it usually return to normal. Sometimes its worse then other times. Has never completely shut off on me but RPM has dropped dangerously low enough that I can see the lights dimming and electrical loss.
I searched around and coundn't find anyone with a similar issue.
I have replace the fuel filter, cabin filter, oil filter (full synthetic oil change)...
Anyone know what it could be? Doesn't really affect driving too much but gets annoying and its a little embarrassing when passengers are in the car lol.

Cheers,
Kris
Theres instructions on how to replace it on the diy section of this forum.
https://mbworld.org/forums/clk-class...8-how-tos.html
2: Lift your engine cover off of your engine. There are 4 clips holding your cover down. Simply just pull up and they will detach.
3: On the back portion of your intake (behind the engine, where your intake housing connects to the engine, you will see the MAF sensor. Using a flat head screwdriver, unclip the metal clip on the back of the MAF and then unclip the plastic clips on the front.
4: Unplug the wire on the right and place it somewhere where you will find it again. Then gently pull the MAF out of it’s place and reverse the directions to put it back together.
I will try cleaning the MAF and see if that helps at all...I heard BOSCH is the only was to go with replacement MAFs.

I'm really excited about diving into this car a little bit. It has an aftermarket front bumper on it...VIS Racing I suspect...and it looks to be lowered a little bit but the previous owner had no details about it. Needs front brakes and rorts which I plan on replacing with Akebono Pads and Stoptech Drilled Rotors (also doing stainless lines). I love your DIY section. I'm coming from the VW scene...had a modified 2002 1.8T but I can really feel the integrity in the Benz that the VW just didn't have.
I will update you on the MAF replacement and post a thread on the new brakes when they are on. BTW anyone have any spare headlight washer cover hehehehehe (wishful thinking) mine are gone...($55.00 a peice here at the dealer in Edmonton)
