Question Brake Pad Sensors

Hi, I own a 2000 CLK 320 and have to replace the pads and sensors. Can anyone tell me how many sensors are needed. Do I need one for each front and rear wheel or do I need one for the front and one for the rear like a BMW.
Thanks for any help I can get. Regards

The brake pad sensors are a very simple device that is simply a wire that is mounted in a plastic clips onto the pad and is designed to wear down when the pad itself wears past a predetermined thickness. The sensor then becomes in contact with the metal brake disc and creates a circuit which is seen as a fault on your dash.
So with the above said I would go for a sensor on each pad front and back both sides, as dependant on wether you may have a lazy brake caliper, the pads could wear more or less respectively. The rear pads generally dont wear down very quick as the car breaking is biased to the front and should last for 6+ years or more.
The sensor cost about £1.50 each or $3 so just buy four or re-use the old ones if they can be .!

I would suggest these. Great quality, cant beat the price, low dust, high performance pads with sensors:

Have them on my CLK 430 and love em'. Great value for our buck.

Sensors are really easy to replace. Search up the brake DIY in the DIY sticky on top of the forum. They have a detailed brake job that even tells you how to do it step by step.
