Key fob issues and lighting from inside
Hello guys!!!!!!!
i searched the entire forum and no answer.......I got 2 probs.
My first prob: Starting today, my key fob will not lock or unlock my doors or open my trunk if i was standing in front of the car (hood )or behind the car (trunk). I have to point the remote directly at the door handle either passengers or driver side then it works fine.. why its that? what could it be???
i changed the battery and checked all the fuses as well
My second prob: out of no where, my dome light and makeup light stopped working..i checked all fuses and no luck (smoke came from the box, sounded like firecrackers )..Im assuming i need new one!!!
does anyone know where i can get the entire set up for the dome light??

Im pretty sure the two are related. If I remeber the dome lamp picks up the RF signal for locking/unlocking and the handles pick up the IR signals. The reason the remote is only working up close is due to the IR function of the remote locking/unlocking being picked up by the IR sensor in the door handle area. The RF function is recieved via the dome lamp unit. So....when the dome lamp went south so did the ability for the car to recieve the unlock/lock function via the remote due to the loss of the RF signal.

Thank u ruination fan for getting back to me.
I found one on eBay today for 53$ and I ordered it...
Hopefully it will solve the prob.. I'm expecting it decemebr 13..

Ruination Fan, u are correct Sir...
EL problemo got fixed.....All what i needed is another map/dome tray (entire set up, from a junkyard) and the alarm is working from every direction and dome light is back on and the visors/makeup light is back on as well

If u look at the first 2 pics i posted.. The second pic is what i got... the entire thing and came with the motherboard in it..
IF i recall correctly, it had 4 screws and then u will unplug the cables and make sure (take a pic) the cable goes back in the right place.
No more than 10 mns max.

Hello. I have the same problem. I have a E320-W211. It starts fine but the key fob has to be real close to the door handle to start. Sometime it takes longer that others to open. My dome light works perfectly. Is it necessary to change my dome light. Is there a particular part I can change.

anything new ideas?
i have checked fuses, cleaned fob and changed battery. never replaced tint, my dome light works fine and all buttons. Any ideas as to why the fob only works in direct line of sight and only on the passenger side door. please guys any help
