Unhappy Strange behavior on Command

My command doesn't behave normal recently. It whether says: "your location is on an unknown road" (which is strange because I have tried locations where I have been to before), or does not respond for at least 5 mintues.
Does anyone know why?

Are you able to go into your COMAND menu where it shows how many satellites you are receiving ? This may be a sign that you have lost total GPS reception. This happened to me and I had to have the whole COMAND unit replaced. I have also seen this happen when for some reason the GPS antenna goes bad. Maybe MBtech208 can provide some insight here.

I just fixed a 2001 CLK430 with a misbehaving navigation system. It wouldn't find local destinations, such as the local mall. It would only find far away destinations like San Francisco and Berkeley. The CD was scratched badly, it needed a new CD. Try cleaning it first.

Command menu

Thanks for the replies. I have tried to clean my CD but the problem didn't go away. I was going to take GMAT yesterday at a location where I needed to use the command and it didn't work!!!

Hey Awiner, how do I go to the Command menu to see how many satallites I am recieving from?

Thanks in advance.

Sorlo, even though you didn't ask me, I can tell you. Press "NAVI MENU", select "OPTION" and press enter. From the next screen, go to "GPS Information" and press enter. Then it will disply your current latitude, longitude, elevation, current location, and number of satellite signals being received.

Sorlo, no the COMAND was replaced under warranty. It's a good thing too as the COMAND head unit is a $4,000+ part.

mbtech208, thanks for the help. I couldn't find "NAVI MENU" and then "OPTION". Is that only available for post 2000 CLK?

Sorlo, look in your manual. It will tell you how to see how many satellites you are receiving as well as Longitude and Latitude... This is the screen that you need to get to.

My COMAND is v2.5 (Whereas yours is v2.0) so I don't know if I tell you how I get to that menu will help. I can try though if you can't find the procedure in your manual.

Today I was in an eight story parking garage and the command - when I pushed map - showed exactly my location as I was twisting/spiraling my way out of this billion ton re-enfoced concrete structure, in downtown Miami.
