Loose Shift Knob
The knob is reinstalled; the lower ring rotated clockwise to lock the knob in place, but the knob still isn't good & tight onto the shift lever. I've messed with it & messed with it but no luck.

If you confirmed it is down far enough on the shaft and you are saying what I mentioned above then you probably did not get the knob completed loose before you started pulling it off. It would still come off but after trying to reinstall it, it wont grab correctly anymore.
I mention this because I did the same thing and then the knob jiggled left to rignt when I grabbed from that point on and it got on my nerves. It would not come off but just wiggled a little. It was nice and snug before I removed it incorreectly. I had to replace the knob to correct it. Since I learned how to take the knob off correctly, the new one stays snug each time I put it on after removing it.
Best wishes.

Where did you get your new knob from?
