Front seat removal

Front seat removal
When I first got my CLK about 3 years ago I had it plugged into STAR at my local dealership after a transmission oil change and they reported an airbag fault, they said it was due to the front seats having been removed from the car, probably to clean the carpets etc...
Does this mean that if I remove the seats and unplug the wiring that the same fault will need addressing again? Has anybody heard of this problem before?
Need to remove seat back covers for re-stitching as both front seats have come apart at the seam. Common problem I'm told also.

I don't think so. I have a copy of the wis somewhere as I have to replace my seat bottom. Don'T recall if the battery has be be disconnected. Also when it was pulled by the dealer ages ago they didn't do anything special or connect it to the Star system to reset.
