Upsolute Chip

Upsolute Chip
Does anyone have any opinions about this chip. For the clk 320 HP goes from 215 to 231 and torque 229 to 249.
For $370 is this worth it?
seems like an ok price for the gain plus everything is kept pretty much stock.

The gains aren't that great like some other cars that they do. For example, the 430 goes from 275 to 300HP, which is a bigger gain than the 320. But, if i throw in an ITG or K&N air filter, i should get some added performance, but probably very small.

Typically, gains shown by ECU modifications include intake and exhaust. It is also important to note at which octane this numbers were reached at, as in many cases the ECU upgrades are designed to run off 98. And of course, a dyno is always helpful. Gains can be little or non-existent in some ranges of the dyno, and then higher in others. While I did have a chip in the past, I've had no personal experience with the Upsolute chip, so I can't directly comment.

A year ago, I chipped my car with another popular chip tuning company. They claimed the same gains 275-300hp. In reality, I noticed that it reved faster, but the gains weren't there. I didn't decide to stop using it until my car began to only work on 5 of 8 cylinders. --Not saying that Upsolute would do this, but I'm not going to be the guinea pig!

If it's too good to be true, it probably is. I've considered the Upsolute chip for my CLK430, but now have decided against it. How did they know to change the code on their chip from the stock chip, and what exactly are they changing? Have they tested it for my car? How do they justify their 10% gains on hp/torque? If they are unable to answer these questions, then I am going to keep my car at manufacturers specs.

I was talking to a well known chip company in Aust today, to get a heads up of what changes are made in performance chips. As it was explained to me, chip companies advance the ignition timing and lean the fuel mix on the assumption that the manufacturer has erred on the side of conservatism to get more power. If you are prepared to use 98 RON -(US 93/94 Octane) fuel, they can be more aggressive in their changes. I personally am not that keen on a chip that has not been "mapped" to my individual car using air/fuel meters on a dyno. How an individual car reacts to fuel mixture/ignition setting changes varies because of the built in manufacturers tolerances.
