CLK Convertible top problem ... One I haven't seen posted.
Hey guys, I am new and I wanted to first take a moment to thank you all for the thousands of dollars already saved. Searching out trouble on this board before visiting the dealer has been a real money saver the past 5 years. You guys helped me identify a faulty crank position sensor and several other problems that were much appreciated.
My newest problem is one I haven't seen on the board and I am hoping someone can help. Three days ago I left my lights on and drained the battery in a parking lot. My wife came down with jumper cables and everything seemed fine. (no idea if this is related)
Yesterday we decided to go for a ride with the top down, had no troubles and parked in the garage with the top still down. This morning I tried to raise the top and it won't budge.
The red button does not flash and does not seem to press down at all...as if it were already depressed. When pulling up on the button the motor kicks in and moves. The button will light up when pulled up.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. I tore through that post a little while ago along with several others and it doesn't seem to be the same issues. The roll bars seem to be functioning properly and the latches all seem to be in place. The red button on the consul seems mechanically unable to be pushed down to raise the top.
Very confusing to me.

Well one good thing is I learned how top operate the top manually LOL. It was easy enough that I decided to test the motor and hydraulics by putting the top down again. Everything worked perfectly, no warning lights or problems going down. Still no luck getting it to come back up however. Is it possible that the actual console button is malfunctioning?

joed1015,
It could indeed be the switch, if there is no reaction when pushing down. In particular when you don't feel any clicking inside the switch. It is p/n 2088202810. Some $75 MSRP. I personally would try to disassemble or at least examine the switch after taking it out... :-)

I agree with Klaus. Before you take the switch out spray some CRC/QD ELECTRICAL PARTS CLEANER in if you can. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...eaner/_/N-262e
