CLK 320 Convertible - Bombay, India
I recently bought a low mileage (26000 kms) w208 CLK 320 here in Mumbai (Bombay), India. The car runs beautifully and has a detailed service history.
The only issue that it seems to have is the soft top doesn't function. The switch when activated keeps blinking.
We ran the analyzer , and this is what it displayed -
Code 001: B1650 - The supply voltage of the soft top limit switch is faulty.
Is this sufficient to pin point the exact fault or is it a time consuming, labor intensive trial and error analysis of the entire system? (this is what I was told by the authorized service center)
Please assist. Also, any heads up on what I need to get checked/look out for during the course of ownership will be of great help.

This is vague, as there are numerous switches in the roof mechanism.
However, if you're knowledgeable in the use of a multimeter, each switch can checked.
First, check that the basket, that separates the roof from the rest of the trunk space, is properly in place, as there are several position switches set when it's properly in place.
Other switches involved with roof operation are in post #34 here:

There are also 2 limit switches in the roll bar assembly.

Thanks Serndipity,
I will have the switches checked with a multi meter.
I think i spoke to soon about the convertible top being the only problem, I was listening to the car radio over the weekend and all of a sudden the sound just went off, the volume control on both the steering and radio don't response. What can be the problem?
