I restored my headlights (cheap way)
Im sure some of you know this trick.. I restored my headlight using TOOTHPASTE and Yes toothpaste that we use on our teeth....
I had a thin layer of yellowish/ whiteish on my headlights.. I wish I took a pic before so we can compare it but I was so excited to get them clean and oh boy, I'm so happy
DEF NO MORE CAVITIES ON MY HEADLIGHTS...
Shopping cart:
Toothpaste
Rag/towel
Water..
There is 2 ways of doing it.. Either you wet the headlight, or keep em dry.. I kept em dry and worked very well...
1) Clean/wash any dirt on the headlight and dry it very well..
2) Put toothpaste on the first headlight and fill the entire headlight with toothpaste (circular motion)..Once done, move on to city light and do the same thing then move on to the other side and do the same thing.
3) Go back to the first headlight and get a DRY rag/towel and wipe it in a circular motion and press hard to get rid of the yellow stuff then move on to the next headlight and go the other side..
4)Go back to the first headlight and get a WET rag/towel and wipe everything down and dry it with another dry towel...
Results are amazing.. No more cavities, smells fresh and Bling bling headlights

Never tried the toothpaste method until a couple of weeks ago and DAMN it actually works! Quite noticeable difference, I would say. Probably not a permanent fix, but oh well...
In addition to the toothpaste I used some leftover rubbing compound and sealant from an old Rain-X restoration kit I used. Not bad result for a 15-minute session per pair of lights on both sides.

Arrrggg!! I just bought the 3M restoration kit today... I have been seeing this trick on pinterest for months now, but thought it was too freaky ... this also makes me wonder how abrasive that stuff is to our teeth using it every day
But it looks great though, nice to know.

Cool concept and nice results! Looks like a great alternative for someone on a budget.
I still prefer rubbing compound on an orbital buffer and finishing them with a coat of wax.
I'm sure you could wax them once you're done using the toothpaste for its abrasive qualities.

Toothpaste Concerns!
Dang I'm gonna be careful about what I use for my teeth
But yes, I tried this method and it works good to maintain a clear lens.
A while ago now, I did do the complete sanding method, followed by chemical on orbital...I think the sanding is what took mine from nasty to clean...but the toothpaste def. keeps them looking good.

That kit and the turtle wax kit never work and cost too much! Before I would go to the shop and use a buffer tool and it worked for a good amount of time.
